Someone made a comment to me the other day about my expensive books. And some of them are, it’s true! So here’s my little secret: Honey. Have you heard of it? It’s a browser extension that helps you shop online. By “help” I mean it stores a bunch of coupon codes. I shop online a lot (because who has time to go shopping?) and it’s saved me quite a bit, especially with free shipping coupons.
Honey also has a feature called “Gold” — certain stores have made deals with Honey and if you shop there, you earn “Gold” even if they couldn’t find a coupon. This has happened before when I ordered groceries from WalMart — no coupons, but I earned Gold points. When you have earned enough points, you can exchange them for gift cards. Recently, they have offered Amazon cards — I exchanged my Gold for a $50 Amazon card recently.

We started a new whole family read aloud last weekend. “Whole family” means is the book we read when my husband is home. Outlaws of Time: The Legend of Sam Miracle is the first in ND Wilson’s Outlaws of Time series. We’re just getting into it, so I can’t yet give a review, but the allusions to the twelve disciples have been fun.

I’ve been busily working away at Season 11 of Scholé Sisters! We’ve got a great lineup of discussion topics and fantastic guests … plus a new cover image featuring our new logo:
So Abby is missing, I know, but what can I say? She wasn’t at the retreat last fall, and that’s where the photo was taken. She will be at the retreat coming up in October, so we’ll be sure to remedy this situation.

- Homeopathy in Emergency Medicine from Academia.edu
- This is an interesting paper, not just because use of homeopathy in emergency situations is rare, but because it discusses the ethics of using homeopathy in a life-threatening situation when other treatment is readily available.
- In the situation of 29 suicide bomb victims, the ethics become less clear. Perhaps there are too many patients for the number of available doctors? If so, can homeopathy be used to treat, maybe even sustain life, while patients wait for their turn with a physician? I have thought about this before, so it’s interesting to see how it played out in real life in an Israeli hospital. I have no clue how to do this successfully, though — I don’t think I’m cool enough under pressure to do accurate case taking under pressure!
- This whole thing will seem strange to most Americans because the majority of our MDs do not have a homeopathy degree (my new doctor does, though — he has a post-doc in homeopathy) and all our old homeopathic hospitals have closed.
