I’m ba-ack! We were traveling over the weekend. My husband’s twin brother was ordained at his church in Florida, and so he and I flew out. It was so nice to see everyone, but especially my four beautiful nieces. I haven’t seen them in almost three years.
This has been our break week. We waited quite long for it, but I knew I’d need a recovery week after our trip, plus I wanted to leave time to miss flights and such. What I didn’t expect was what happened yesterday:
So that was a bummer.
I ended up getting four new tires. It was past time, and we’d been putting it off. Painful purchase, no matter when you do it.

In happier news, I unveiled the new Way of the Will, Way of the Reason shirt yesterday.
O-Age-Nine was disappointed when the girls in the family got their Atmosphere, Discipline, Life shirts. “Why is Charlotte Mason always for girls?” he asked. Good question! And that’s where I first got the idea for this Way of the Will, Way of the Reason design. These two ways are for all persons, of course, but I wanted my son to know that these two ways are what make men great. So here’s to greatness. Here’s to Charlotte Mason For Boys!

Yes, there is still another AfterCast episode coming out for this season. I just didn’t manage to get it done before I left for Florida last week. I hope to get it done next week … we shall see!

This month in 2013:
I had totally forgotten about this! This was the first of two years in a row that I published a 31 Days series devoted to all things Charlotte Mason. This link will take you to the 2013 table of contents. I didn’t write it all myself, of course. I had a wonderful team!

This week’s links collection:
- Loss of a father leaves its mark in the child’s DNA from MercatorNet
- “Studies that rely exclusively on survey questions may underestimate the impact of a father’s death.”
- Facebook “embeds,” Russia and the Trump campaign’s secret weapon from CBS News
- What a fascinating guy!
- Study: Too Many Structured Activities May Hinder Children’s Executive Functioning from Education Week
- A big part of my homeschool philosophy is loooooong hours daily to play, create, think, BE. Schools tend to structure children’s lives in the classroom, and then again at home through homework. It’s easy to let homeschool slip into parental control of most of a child’s life. I think it’s wise to resist this temptation…
- Why Aren’t People Eating in Medieval Depictions of Feasts? from the iris
- Interesting.
