Did you hear the news? Mystie’s launched a new podcast, The Simply Convivial Audio Blog. It’s a way to “read” her blog via a podcast app. Pretty awesome, amIright? You guys will have to let me know what you think because I have considered doing something similar — offering an audio version of the posts for those of you who are on-the-go.
With that said, I also find it personally satisfying that E-Age-Fourteen is doing the engineering for the show. He’s been doing the Scholé Sisters podcast for a while, but this is his first gig working for someone who is Not Mom. We’ve always been firm believers in children having jobs, but we weren’t sticklers on entrepreneurship. However, comma, this happened organically due to his interest in sound engineering {and also earning money — haha!} and tada! Instant job, and for a quality employer, if I do say so myself.
So head on over and subscribe! You’ll be glad you did.

Speaking of podcasts, the newest Scholé Sisters episode came out today. This was a totally fun one to record, and an intriguing topic to think about {all Pam’s idea, of course}.

This week’s links collection:
- Second Amendment Film ‘Targeted’ Exposes and Destroys Gun Control Agenda from Breitbart
- My friend, Lisa’s, son directed this film! Homeschool graduate, folks. ♥
- How Americans Gardened 260 Years Ago from Organic Life
- I thought this was an interesting little history lesson.
- Cal State LA offers segregated housing for black students from The College Fix
- Well, this makes me super sad. Segregation is back? Really?? Sigh. Leave it to my state.

This month in 2013:
Fabius is still one my favorite Lives we’ve studied.

I didn’t write much on the blog this week {I’m assuming you noticed}. My focus this week needed to be on finishing the rough drafts of my talks for GTB. I think I’ve mentioned before that new talks take me between 50 and 80 hours to write. I’m keeping my head down, and it’s showing, but I still have quite a ways to go…

Last weekend, we watched Risen. I was pleasantly surprised: a movie about the Bible that is everything a Bible movie ought to be, with violence, intrigue, superstition, conspiracy, and more. {I mean, have you read the Old Testament lately?}
Anyhow, we all know that Christian movies are usually {a} cheesy, {b} preachy, and {c} badly acted. It’s a shame, really, and small budgets can only explain part of this. But we knew things were looking up when Mom’s Night Out came around, and now we have Risen. We really enjoyed it.

Answering Your Questions:
- Question: Do you know how I find a Charlotte Mason co-op near me?
- Answer: Possibly? I still recommend Charlotte Mason in Community as the place to look up CM groups. I hope that this becomes a wonderful resource. Of course, this means that if you have a Charlotte Mason group, and haven’t put yourself on the list, you really need to drop what you are doing and sign up. It only takes a moment, and the only way this resource can be thorough is by having everyone make a note of their own group. {By the way, if you want to start a group, you can put that on the list, too.} Word of mouth is, of course, the other way to find out. But that gets tricky. I am always amazed at how ineffective it is — how often I don’t know what is going on in my own backyard!
