They’re called Sanuks, apparently:

I truly am in love with them. I didn’t pay the price in the link, though. Clearance rack at DSW, people! It’s the real deal. ♥

Sorry about my chippy polish.

Have you been following Wendi’s amazing Charlotte Mason Challenges over on the Archipelago blog?? Amazing is an understatement. Here’s the first one, and they just keep getting better.

I also caught wind of a VERY exciting Charlotte Mason project coming up: a real deal print magazine!!I know only a teensy tiny bit, but already I’m thrilled. Follow them on Instagram here.

This month in 2017:

I’ve been thinking a lot about this this week. It’s all truer than I want it to be — I want it to be that people other than me are the problem. I’m realizing over and over how short a school day can be if I am on task and enforcing children being on task, too.

This week’s links collection:

  • Summer Reviews “Girl, Wash Your Face” (Part 2) from Sheologians
    • Part I was good, too.
    • “I tend to be skeptical when someone with an Instagrammable lifestyle blog spends a lot of time trying to convince me that, no, really. Honestly. She is so messy. Like the messiest.”
      • Pretty much.
  • Explosive Ivy League Study Repressed For Finding Transgender Kids May Be A Social Contagion from The Federalist
    • I keep telling people: it’s what the cool kids are doing.
  • Your Phone Is Listening and it’s Not Paranoia from Vice
    • “For your smartphone to actually pay attention and record your conversation, there needs to be a trigger, such as when you say “hey Siri” or “okay Google.” In the absence of these triggers, any data you provide is only processed within your own phone.”
      • THIS IS SO PATENTLY UNTRUE THAT I AM USING CAPITAL LETTERS. Earlier this summer, my husband and I were discussing our surprisingly high electric bill. I said to him that we probably needed to change the air filter. Within the hour, I was seeing air filter ads on Facebook. I did not say “okay Google” because I refuse to talk to a computer — I even have Siri deactivated. I firmly believe our devices are listening ALL THE TIME.
      • Bonus: I don’t have a smart phone. This happened when I talked in front of my iPod Touch.
  • It Never Was About Anything Else from The Cardinal Newman Society
    • It pays to know your history: “I bring the matter up, because one of the signers at Land O’ Lakes was the now disgraced Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, at that time the president of the Catholic University of Puerto Rico.”
  • Lawmakers Call on Trump to Declassify Carter Page FISA from Sara Carter
    • I hope he does it. I am so over blacked out nonsense that has nothing to do with national security and everything to do with helping people get re-elected.
